Tuesday night there was a Recruitment Fair at Sykkylven Lower Secondary School (grades 8-10). Five different regional high schools (grades 11-13) were present, including Sykkylven and Stranda (I teach at both schools). All Norwegian 10th graders must make a big decision at age 15, since the Norwegian high school program has a unified upper secondary structure that coordinates general studies (3 years) and vocational studies (2-4 years). So if you want to become a car mechanic or a chef, you choose vocational studies at high school. If you want to become a teacher, accountant or a lawyer, you choose general studies.
More than a hundred 10th graders attended the Fair along with their parents.
Kokkene Erik og Helga fra ungdomsbedriften "Sunn Snacks UB" kunne by på smaksprøver.
